Recovery in Polyana is a centuries-long tradition

The mineral waters of Polyana were used for baths a few centuries ago. In 1868, in the village, on the shores of Mala Pinya, "Polyanska Kupil" was built. That was a wooden complex with 40 apartments and 20 bathrooms. B big fire in 1907 destroyed the complex, but its restoration began soon in 1913. In the 30's Polyana became one of the most famous European resorts, whose guests received year-round treatment.

Mineral water

Healing mineral water, known to the peasants for 500 years, began to be bottled in shops from the second half of the nineteenth century. Polyana Kvasova and Luzhanska were mentioned in the documents of the Hungarian king of 1463. Then those mineral waters were used as a table water. Over time it started to be used for treatment of stomach diseases.

From 1842 to 1911 Polyana Kvasova became one of the best mineral waters in Central Europe at international competitions 21 times. Polyana Kvasova and Luzhanska were not far behind: these waters were in high demand at the European market and received many diplomas and awards.

Ancient and mystical story

The first mentions of the village appeared in the XII century. Of course, then Polyana was not a resort, but a village of shepherds. However, in the middle of the thirteenth century, Polyana was destroyed by Mongol-Tatars. New settlements in the village appeared only a few hundred years later – in 1548.

It is believed that the vicinity of Polyana formerly was settled by cynocephalics - the giant people. One day they kidnapped the wife of a shepherd and he went to free her. The young man wandered in forests in search of his beloved for a long time, and when he came across her, he saw that she didn't seem too worried about her kidnapping. A fight broke out between the shepherd and the giant, and a faithful dog helped the young man to win. The cheating wife and the cynocephali died, and the young man returned home, married a second time, and started to live with his family in the meadow, from which the name of the village appeared ("polyana" – meadow, Ukrainian).

Legend is just a legend, there are no cynocephalics in Polyana anymore. But the fact is that the modern villagers are so friendly and hospitable.
